When a chart is viewed from either the Portfolio tool or the Aberdeen Fund Prices page the charting tool will detect if the instrument is a fund or an equity (share). In the case of funds the charting tool will automatically plot the fund's performance against its sector average (IMA). For equities performance will be compared to the relevant London Stock Exchange (LSE) Sector.
The charting tool also offers the option to plot additional IMA or LSE sectors against the fund or equity.
These sectors are shown within the
drop-down list to the right hand side of the main charting area labelled ‘Add
sector to chart’ (see fig. 1.1). The contents of this drop-down box will
be dependant on the type of instrument that you are charting – for example,
if you are plotting the performance of a share, the drop down list will be populated
with LSE sectors (see fig 1.2)
