Add Mode
The method by which you add new items to your portfolio will differ depending on the type of instrument that you are adding. This can be divided up in to three categories:
FundsTo add a new fund, first ensure that ‘Fund’ is highlighted within ‘1 Select investment type’. (see fig 1.1)

Next you have to narrow down your search for a fund. This can be done in one of two ways: either by manager name or by AUTIF sector.
To find a fund by the manager (fund management company – i.e. Aberdeen), first expand the drop-down menu entitled “select by manager” (see fig 1.2)

To select a manager scroll through the list and click on the fund manager’s name.
Once this has been done, move on to section ‘3 Select From Results’.
OR
To find a fund by the IMASector (i.e. UK All Companies), first expand the drop-down menu entitled “select by IMA Sector” (see fig 1.3)

Once this has been done, move on to section ‘3 Select From Results’.

To select a result from the list (see fig 1.4) click on the name of a fund – now move to section ‘4 Enter Purchase Details’.

NOTE - When you select a fund from section 3, the current price details are automatically entered into the relevant ‘Unit cost’ field (see fig 1.5).

To complete the addition to your portfolio you must do the following:
1 ......Enter
the number of units held
2 ......Ensure the purchase cost
is correct (if not alter the amount)
3 ......Ensure that the purchase
date is correct (if not alter as required)
4 ......Click ‘Add to current
portfolio’
The new fund has now been added to your portfolio – this will also be confirmed with a message in a pop-up window.
To add a new share, first ensure that ‘UK Equity’ is highlighted within ‘1 Select investment type’. (see fig 2.1)

Next you have to narrow down your search for a company. This can be done in one of two ways: either by EPIC code or the company name (see fig 2.2).

To find a share by the EPIC code (assuming that it is known), firstly enter the EPIC code into the space provided then hit ‘search’.
OR
To find a share by the company name, firstly enter all or part of the company’s name into the space provided then hit ‘search’.
‘3 Select From Results’
To select a result from the list (see fig 2.3) click on the name of a share – now move to section ‘4 Enter Purchase Details’.

Holdings, such as houses, paintings and jewellery, that are not financial instruments like shares or funds can also be added to the Aberdeen portfolio tool.
To add a holding to your portfolio, first ensure that ‘Other Holdings’ is highlighted within ‘1 Select investment type’. (see fig 3.1)

Section two will now allow you to enter any item into the space provided (‘Name of Investment’). You are also required to specify the cost of the purchase and the purchased date, if different from today’s date (see fig 3.2)

Once happy with the entry hit the ‘add to current portfolio’ button.
