This section of the Aberdeen portfolio tool offers advanced analysis on your portfolio holdings, by type, fund / equity sector, investment region and risk.
There are two sections to the analysis tool (see fig 1.1): ‘Current Portfolio Analysis’ and ‘Combined Portfolio Analysis’.

Fig 1.1
Current Portfolio Analysis
Current portfolio analysis relates to the portfolio that you are currently
viewing. You can tell which portfolio is being viewed by referring to the ‘current
portfolio’ dropdown list.
Combined Portfolio Analysis
Combined portfolio analysis will only differ in content from the above
when you have more than one populated portfolio running. For information on
adding new portfolios’ see ‘add new portfolio’.
If a second portfolio is populated with holdings then the data within ‘Combined portfolio analysis will reflect not only the current portfolio being viewed, but also analysis information across all of your active portfolios.
When viewing analysis information (represented by % data and related pie chart) in either of the above modes there are five analysis settings:
Type
of holding
Fund IMA Sector
Share Sector
Fund Region
To move between these pages of analysis click either the dropdown menu within current or combined portfolio analysis and make a new selection (see fig 1.2). NOTE – when a selection is made within Current Portfolio Analysis the results of that selection are shown within Current and Combined Portfolio Analysis and vice versa.

A variety of instruments can be held within the ‘Aberdeen portfolio tool’. These include: UTs / OEICs, Investment Trusts, Pension Funds, Insurance (life) Funds, Stocks & Shares and Other Investments.
Each one of these holdings present within your portfolio will be listed with a percentage figure next to it, to indicate how much of the portfolio it makes up. (e.g. Shares makes up 3.3 % of the example portfolio shown in fig 1.1.
A pie chart will also be shown to give a graphical representation of how holding types are split up.
A portfolio total is also shown in GBP (pounds sterling).
IMA (previously AUTIF) are the regulatory body that decide which sector a UK Unit Trusts or OEIC fits into, this is generally decided by investment style or where the fund holds its equity. For example the IMA ‘European Smaller Companies’, sector contains funds holding equity in smaller companies, listed within a range of European stock exchanges.
By setting the portfolio analysis to ‘Fund IMA Sector’ mode, you can view a breakdown of all your fund holdings within current and combined portfolios by IMA sector (see fig 1.3). You will notice that any fund not yet assigned to an IMA sector will come under a separate sector heading.

Also within this section are two totals. One showing funds as a % of the portfolio as a whole and the second showing the total amount invested into funds.
As with funds, shares generally sit within a particular sector. The ‘Share Sector’ section shows which funds are invested into which LSE (London Stock Exchange) sectors (see fig 1.4).
